What is a TSA lock?

TSA stands for Transport Security Administration, which is a security agency established by and in the United States. The Transport Security Administration was set up after the 9/11 events to provide 'extra' security at airports and air traffic.

A TSA lock has a special TSA logo (Red with white square on its side.) so that the security authorities immediately recognise the suitcase and can open it with a special runner without damaging the suitcase. So with a TSA lock, you avoid seeing your suitcase damaged on the baggage belt.

When travelling to America, we advise you to use a TSA lock. The US authorities will want to look inside your suitcase at all times.

Who has a TSA key?

Every TSA agent has a TSA key,
with this they can cleanly open any suitcase with TSA without having to break it open.

How can I set my TSA lock?

  1. Make sure the lock is accurately set to code 000 (or 0000).
  2. Press the button so that the lock pops open.
  3. Press and hold the pin on the TSA lock with a pen or paperclip.
  4. While holding down the pin, select the desired number combination for your TSA lock.
  5. After setting the code, release the pin again. The new code is now set.
  6. Write down the new code you have just set for your combination lock. Store the code wherever you can find it again, for example in your phone or with the rest of your travel documents.

Please note that setting the TSA lock can vary from one type of combination lock to another.
All our TSA locks come with instructions on how to change the code.
